Rates & Insurance
Rates:
Please contact me directly to discuss service fees. I offer a complimentary brief telephone consultation.
Payment:
Payment is due at time of service, including co-pays, remaining deductibles as applied to your plan.
I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment.
To provide the easiest billing option, I offer elective automatic billing.
Insurance:
I believe the type and other terms of treatment should be up to the client and psychotherapist. In addition to private pay, I accept some insurance-supported payments. Your health insurance or employee benefit plan may cover my services in full or in part.
I think it is important for you to consider that when insurance bills for therapy services, they require therapists furnish a diagnosis which then remains part of your medical records. Still, your insurance is a benefit that you might opt to use to cover your mental health care. Please check carefully with your insurance company to verify the coverage provided. The following questions might be helpful to ask your provider:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
- Is there out-of-network coverage?
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is my deductible and have I met it yet?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is written approval required from my primary care physician in order to apply insurance for coverage of sessions?
If your health insurance covers mental health, it is your responsibility to provide the appropriate billing information for your carrier. I am happy to provide billing support as a courtesy to you. Additionally, please familiarize yourself with your insurance coverage related to out-patient mental health prior to services, since coverage options vary significantly.
Presently, I am a preferred provider for Beacon Options and Aetna.
For other clients who seek to use their insurance coverage for psychotherapy with me, as an out of network provider, meaning a provider not contracted directly with an particular insurance company, I am happy to provide you with paperwork, featuring what is called a “Super Bill” that you can submit to your insurance provider following a session. In this case, too, I encourage you to contact your insurance company to determine details of your coverage benefits.
Cancelations:
Your scheduled appointment is a time reserved for you and you alone. It cannot be shared with another person. There is no charge for cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made after 48 hours of your scheduled appointment may be charged the full session rate.
Please note: if insurance is involved in covering for fees, these companies do not reimburse for missed sessions. You are responsible for the entire cost of the session, not just a copay or usual percentage.
