Stress Management & Mindfulness
Do you feel overwhelmed?
Is your “to do” list so long that you don’t know where to start?
Stress is a daily part of life. In fact, a certain amount of stress and anxiety serve as motivation to accomplish things. However, most of us also experience times when the stress level in life gets a little too high. It’s at these moments it’s important to manage stress intentionally.
Stress triggers the body’s fight-or-flight response. It is a primal part of our nature for survival that has been with us since the dawn of time. Still, in our times, repeated stress and such responses have a chronic, cumulative effect, leaving us feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and fatigued.
In counseling with a professional, you can review or learn new tools in self-care, relaxation, and mindfulness along with coping techniques to manage even better. Mindfulness not only improves mood and reduces stress, but has been proven to improve heart disease, blood pressure, brain functioning, chronic pain, sleep, and gastronomical difficulties as well as reduce stress.
Here are signs that your stress level may becoming chronic or too high:
- Daily habit problems: changes with sleeping and eating
- Health problems: increased illness, chronic pain and/or ailments such as high blood pressure, digestive problems, headaches
- Mood swings or irritability or depression
- Memory problems/Increased confusion
- Negative self-talk
- Missing school, not showing up for work, or inability to work efficiently
- Worry, racing thoughts
- Poor decisions
Rather than continue in a cycle of stress that feels never-ending, I can help you recover your sense of well-being. You can actually enjoy life and feel more fulfilled.
